Balaklava Race 7 @ 3:35pm (AEST)

LADY ESPRIT clearly rates to win the feature sprint. First-up she was just beaten in Stakes grade at Mooney Valley running a peak. Her form prior was also outstanding for a race of this nature and she draws to advantage. COOL PASSION is a well-performed West Australian resuming for the McEvoy yard. She’s trialled well and should be right in the action. LOPE DE CAPIO was beaten just 2.8L in the Goodwood before the spell and should be ready to fire third-up. GUN CASE has won two of his last three and was too good in a city 90 the latest. He finds a few sharp customers today but has the Weir polish. USAIN DANE was beaten a lip behind the above in that race and looks next best. SELECTIONS: # 6 Lady Esprit looks beautifully-placed and backing to win.

$2.40 is Lady Esprit’s current price.

Using Ladbrokes Odds boost however, $3.00 is available.

Canterbury: Race 5 @ 3:10pm

Key players in Nictock and Bright Future each work forward. IN TIMES OF WAR resumes and should take a power of beating based on the strength of her form last prep. Boasts placings behind some of the form mares of late last season in Bonny O'Reilly, Memes, Miss Debutante and Sisken. Looks mighty hard to go past. NICTOCK is chasing a fourth straight success. Is improving with each run this campaign and can continue his progression through the grades. BRIGHT FUTURE racing consistently. Carries no weight on his back here after the 2kg claim. SELECTIONS: Win bet #4 In Times Of War. Looks set for a soft kill first up over #1 and #8.

Doomben: Race 7 @ 4:03pm

Captain Leo looks the most likely to push forward and lead. RICH AFFAIR returns today having finished runner up in a recent barrier trial at Doomben. Rates clear of his rivals today on best form and has shown enough to suggest he can get the job done today from the inside draw. CAPTAIN LEO put two wins together before running second at Ipswich last time out. A lot to like about his recent form and he will roll forward again today and take plenty of running down. ALL PLUCK next best off consistent form. SELECTIONS: #5 Rich Affair for the win.

Mornington: Race 5 @ 4:30pm

Hear The Chant, Lord Barrington and Orujo look the three to contest the early lead. HEAR THE CHANT looks well placed here. Has the speed to put herself into a controlling spot in the run here and she should take plenty of pegging back given that. Did enough first up around the Valley and this is no tougher for her. Unbeaten in two runs second up. MOTOWN LIL returned a good winner at Sandown. Fairly soft on the line and good for more than the bare margin there. She's a genuine threat having won around Mornington in the past. LABUAN STAR has run well twice this time in and can peak third up. Competitive along with Orujo who is going really well of late. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Hear The Chant to keep the hot second up record alive.

Belmont: Race 5 @ 5:35pm (AEST)

LORENTINIO has only been narrowly beaten at his last two starts and is clearly back in good order this time in. Gives the impression he will relish the slight step up in trip and gets in well after the claim. Drawn well and should prove very hard to beat on the quick back up (seven days). WOODMANS KEEP continued his good run of form last start when finishing second behind the progressive Golgotha. Has never missed the money over this trip and looms as a major threat on the quick back up (seven days). MISS MEIKA the next in line racing second up. SELECTIONS: Sticking with #1 Lorentinio, she can break through today.
