Rosehill: Race 7 @ 3:50pm

Siege Of Quebec the pacesetter. Can't go past Menari off the strength of his Rosebud success. Carried a big weight but still too good, beating a rival on that occasion who he faces again here in Siege Of Quebec. Now meets Siege Of Quebec 5kg better at the weights for beating him. Will be fitter for the run and appears extremely well suited. Stable has commenced the season striking at 25% in the city. Pariah won the San Domenico Stakes at this course over 1100m at fortnight ago. Ran second in the Blue Diamond Stakes as a two-year-old. Stable has an excellent record around this time of year with their three-year-olds heading toward the Golden Rose. Kementari is the boom colt, resuming after a highly encouraging two start maiden campaign late last season. Has trialled twice this prep in readiness for this, winning his latest hitout. Clearly his toughest career assignment to date but promising enough to suspect he'll be right in the thick of things. The double figure quote about Invader is value to say the least. Held his own against the older horses on resuming in the Show County Quality. Almost won a Todman Stakes over this trip at Randwick as a two-year-old before winning the Sires and running second in the Champagne at his subsequent runs. SELECTIONS: #5 Menari straight out. Hard to go past off that Rosebud success from #4, #10 and #1.

$2.20 is Menari’s current price.

Using Ladbrokes Odds boost however, $2.30 is available.

Moonee Valley: Race 5 @ 2:50pm

Houtzen motors across to either sit outside or cross Heatherly depending how she jumps. Not expecting that to take their time. Should be an end-to-end gallop. RUSSIAN REVOLUTION camps on that pair and think he can get the better of them late. 1000m probably plays to the strengths of others but he is hardly lacking for speed and he has the talent to beat this field en route to better races. The return of HOUTZEN is obviously very interesting. Few faster juveniles than her last season and she can be expected to train on and make into a handy speedster this campaign. HEATHERLY was beaten fair and square by Missrock first up but can turn the tables with the benefit of that run. Missrock may want 1200m soon enough. SELECTIONS: Backing #1 Russian Revolution to get over the top of the flying fillies #5 and #7.

Doomben: Race 2 @ 5:12pm

Would expect Final Zero to push forward from the good draw and take up the lead in this field. OF THE DAY continues to race well winning three of her last four starts, the most recent over 1200m at the Gold Coast. Looks well suited again today and drawn well is the one they have to beat. FINAL ZERO has finished runner up to Of The Day her last two outings and was 2.5L away last time out. Meets her much better at the weights and will be in the mix. SELECTIONS: Hard to go past #3 Of The Day for the win from #7.

Morphettville: Race 4 @ 3:01pm (AEST)

Expecting Mutamayel to roll forward while Evil Cry also has the pace to be prominent if they choose. MUTAMAYEL has commenced his career in perfect fashion having won both of his starts, the latest a strong victory at Sandown where he sat on the pace and kicked away. Steps up to stakes company but looks to have good upside so can take the leap. BRING ME ROSES is a lightly-raced filly who ran on well to place in a stakes race last start. Expecting the step up to the mile to suit her. EVIL CRY should enjoy stepping back up this trip having run a Listed third to the smart Royal Symphony at his only previous attempt. SKY PUNCH has ability and has yet to finish worse than fourth. SELECTIONS: Backing #2 Mutamayel to successfully take the step up to stakes racing from #10, #7 and #4.

Belmont: Race 5 @ 5:14pm (AEST)

Easily the main highlight of the afternoon with this year's renewal of the Listed Farnley Stakes. Speed anticipated from Just Act Natural, It's It and Key To Fame. JUST ACT NATURAL proved very game in defeat last start when only narrowly edged out in the Idyllic Prince Stakes. Returned a new career peak on that occasion and appears far better placed under the handicap conditions. Drawn well and should take a power of beating. IT'S IT beat home the latter last start and while worse off at the weights (3.5kg) this time around, he still commands respect as he is flying this time in. KEY TO FAME went to the paddock in great order and remains a big watch fresh for the in-form Simon Miller stable. Drawn well and has to be kept safe with the Wizard aboard. SELECTIONS: Very keen on #4 Just Act Natural from #1 and #6.

R7 ROSEHILL 9 September 2017
The Run To The Rose 3 , 1200m
Race Synopsis: Menari advanced after his impressive first-up win in The Rosebud (Listed, 1100m) at this track on 12 August to score brilliantly here, claiming clear favouritism for Saturday week’s Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) in the process. He showed good pace as he worked to overcome his outside barrier (10) before settling in second place. He got the better of the leader (Perast) at the 200m and then went to score a very strong win, and in very fast time (1:08.59). The San Domenico Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) winner Pariah had an ideal trip in third place, briefly looked dangerous when he challenged at the 200m and then fought gamely for second in a strong effort, albeit in finding the winner too good. The $101 chance Perast was quickly away and took the lead. He grabbed a good break coming to the home turn and held on very well for third in a bold effort. Kementari raced back in sixth place, one off the rails. He put in a run from the 300m got to fourth at the 200m and then kept fighting on well for (3.2 lengths) fourth in a sound first-up effort. Shogun Sun was back in last place to the home turn. He went deeper at the 300m and caught the eye in running on late for (3.4 lengths) fifth, looking suited to further.
