The Demons will receive Lever, draft pic no 35 and a future third-round selection on the deal while the Crows will receive Melbourne’s 10th draft pick and a choice of two selections in 2018.

Lever indicated his desire to return to his home state Victoria two days after their Grand Final loss to Richmond.

According to Demons football boss Josh Mahoney, Lever has been under the club’s radar for a while and the outcome is a positive one for Melbourne.

According to Mahoney, Lever will have an immediate impact on the lineup both in and out of play with his competitiveness and professionalism.

Meanwhile GWS have traded Devon Smith to Essendon who has played 109 games at the club as a foundation player.

Smith has been one of Essendon’s targets this trade period along with Adam Saad and Jake Stringer.
