Collingwood and Hawthorn have loaded up with key players for the second round of AFL pre-season matches.

The Magpies named five of their grand final team for Monday's match against Carlton in country Morwell, with Adam Treloar, Jeremy Howe, Mason Cox, Brayden Maynard and Tyson Goldsack added to the squad.

The Blues' key inclusion is recruit Alex Fasolo, who has recovered from a broken arm and will make his Carlton debut against his old club.

After taking a half-strength team away for their loss to Brisbane, the Hawks have named a much stronger team for the Saturday night game in Launceston against Richmond.

New captain Ben Stratton, his predecessor Jarryd Roughead, All-Australian Luke Breust, Isaac Smith, Shaun Burgoyne, No.1 midfielder Jaeger O'Meara, Blake Hardwick, Ben McEvoy and Liam Shiels lead their inclusions.

But forward Jack Gunston is out with a leg injury.

Former Gold Coast co-captain Steven May will play his first game for Melbourne, recovering from a hamstring injury to be named in the team for Saturday's match against Brisbane at Casey Fields.

Adelaide have recalled Daniel Talia and Bryce Gibbs for Friday night's Canberra game against GWS, who have lost Callan Ward.

The Giants co-captain will miss the start of the regular season with the knee injury he suffered last Saturday night's win over Sydney.
