Hawthorn have mixed injury news ahead of their AFL Easter Monday blockbuster against Geelong, with Jaeger O'Meara likely to return.

But captain Ben Stratton and fellow defender James Frawley added to the side's casualty count in Sunday's loss to St Kilda.

While Stratton could be available to take on the Cats after he was concussed at Marvel Stadium, Frawley suffered a hamstring injury and is probably out for a couple of games.

O'Meara was a late withdrawal from Sunday's game when he did not recover in time from his sore hip.

The eight-day break ahead of Easter Monday gives the on-baller every chance of being available to take on the Cats.

O'Meara's injury meant the Hawks were without their top four midfielders for the Saints match.

Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell is out of action for the season with a broken leg, while Shaun Burgoyne and Liam Shiels are recovering from hamstring injuries.

James Cousins also suffered an ankle injury against the Saints, but managed to play out the match.

Isaac Smith (hand) and Conor Nash (leg) likewise were hurt during the match.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear when St Kilda star Jack Steven will return to the senior team.

After having time off in the pre-season because of mental health struggles, Steven returned and played the opening two rounds.

But he did not play in the narrow loss to Fremantle, with the Saints saying Steven was sore.

While the four-time club best and fairest was added to their extended squad for Sunday's game, he did not make the final 22.

Coach Alan Richardson was unsure post-match whether Steven would return for Saturday's match against Melbourne.
