AUSTRALIA v INDIA DAY 4

Score: India 7(dec)-622, Australia 300 and 0-6.

Man of the moment: India's chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, He earned two lbw decisions against Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood to secure the second five-wicket haul of his six-Test career.

Stat of the day: India become the first team to have the option of asking Australia to follow on twice in a home summer.

Summary: After losing 3-20 following a near four hour delay to the start, Australia got to 300 courtesy of a fighting 44-run last wicket stand between Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, with the latter posting his highest Test score in over two years. Despite being asked to follow on, Australia have some chance of escaping from the match with a draw with rain and bad light shortening play on Saturday and Sunday and a forecast of possible showers on Monday. If the weather improves they face the prospect of having to bat the full day to deny India a win, as they will start the final day needing 316 to make the tourists bat again.

Quote of the day: "That dismissal actually says a lot to me about the mindset of the Australian team at the moment. There is no desperation there whatsoever," former Australian captain Ricky Ponting on Channel Seven, slamming Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc for not reviewing an lbw decision against Lyon despite Australia having two reviews left.
