Meg Lanning says she's determined to see her Australian women's cricket team end their successful summer on a high note - and to get among the runs.

Australia already have an unassailable 2-0 series lead over New Zealand heading into the final game of their ODI series in Melbourne on Sunday.

A campaign which started last September with a T20 international against the White Ferns has delivered 16 wins from 17 ODI and T20 games and the World T20 title.

Skipper Lanning wasn't anticipating any sense of anticlimax on Sunday, with spots on the looming Ashes tour of England up for grabs.

"It's something we've spoken about a bit as a group over the last year or so, really trying to finish off series well,' Lanning said.

"I think it would be really disappointing if we didn't play well tomorrow and that was the end point for the summer.

"We've got a little break coming up after this, but we're looking forward to hopefully playing our best."

The usually prolific Lanning has scored just six and three in the first two games of the series, something she was keen to rectify in Melbourne.

"I guess the great thing for our team is different people have stepped up at different times and I've been working hard at training, making sure I'm ready to go," Lanning said.
