HIGHS AND LOWS OF EMILY SEEBOHM'S SWIMMING CAREER

* Seebohm dropped out of school in year 10 to concentrate on swimming; made first national team at age of 14 when picked for 2007 world titles

* Has contested three Olympics (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016) claiming a total of two gold and three silver

* Infamously blamed being distracted by social media after the red-hot favourite was reduced to tears pool-side after settling for 100m backstroke silver at the London Olympics

* Became the fifth woman to win the 100m-200m backstroke double at the 2015 world titles at Kazan, Russia

* Considered retirement after finishing second last in 100m final and failing to qualify for the 200m medal race at Rio Olympics

* Sparked form resurgence following surgery in late 2016 after it was revealed she had been suffering endometriosis, a painful condition in which the tissue that is usually found inside the uterus is found growing outside.

* Successfully defended her 200m backstroke title at 2017 world championships in Budapest in her sixth world titles campaign, boosting her overall world titles medal tally to five gold, five silver and three bronze
