PLAYER OF THE DAY: Kevin Anderson - the big-serving South African saved a match point before fighting back from two sets down to end Roger Federer's title defence with a tense 2-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-5 6-4 13-11 quarter-final victory over the eight-times champion.

STAT OF THE DAY: Anderson's victory was only the fifth time in Federer's 20-year, 1415-match career that the great Swiss had given up a two-set lead.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Double standards, my friend. Double standards." - steaming Serb Novak Djokovic to chair umpire Carlos Ramos for issuing the three-time champion a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct but not one to his beaten opponent Kei Nishikori for also bouncing his racquet in frustration into the court.

TOURNAMENT SUMMARY: Djokovic will play Rafael Nadal in a semi-final showstopper after the world No.1 scraped past Argentine fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro 7-5 6-7 (7-9) 4-6 6-4 6-4 in a four-hour, 48-minute centre court classic, while Anderson takes on ninth seed John Isner, a four-set quarter-final winner over 2016 runner-up Milos Raonic.
