Wests Tigers have announced the re-signing of hooker Matt McIlwrick until the end of the 2019 NRL season.

Wests Tigers have laid down yet another piece in their rebuild after re-signing hooker Matt McIlwrick until the end of the 2019 NRL season.

McIlwrick has been arguably the club's most consistent performer this year despite starting the season behind veteran Matt Ballin and youngster Jacob Liddle in the No.9.

"This club has been great to me in giving me an opportunity to come here, and I'm very grateful for that," McIlwrick said on Tuesday.

"They have supported me from day one and I'm excited to be a part of the future here."

Having played every single game so far this season, McIlwrick's hooking tandem with Liddle is now set to continue for at least the next three seasons.

Liddle earlier this month extended his contract at Concord for the next two years.

"There's a great opportunity to build something special here, and you can already see positive change around the place," McIlwrick said.

"I know Wests Tigers are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years."

Tigers coach Ivan Cleary, who has now signed or re-signed at least 15 players since taking over from Jason Taylor mid-season, said McIlwrick's strong efforts deserved a new deal.

"Matt has shown himself to be a very valued and well-respected member of this team, and will continue to develop into a quality hooker over the next two seasons," Cleary said.

McIlwrick's extension leaves first-graders Ballin, Joel Edwards, Tim Grant, Jamal Idris, Kyle Lovett and Kevin Naiqama without deals beyond November.
