Rain couldn't dampen this parade
It was a magnificent victory on every side with Rapper Dragon winning the Hong Kong Derby and the 4yo Triple Crown.
First horse to do it, first jockey to do it and jockey Joao Moreira's first Derby (yes there are some races he hasn't won but they are getting fewer and fewer) and a brilliant result for all concerned - George for finding the horse, John for training him to the second for this and Joao for his great ride. There was a nasty bump at the start of the straight but the horse regained his momentum and that was that.
Pakistan Star made his usual explosive dash to the finish but he was again too far back - he needs a longer straight (like Fuchu for the Yasuda Kinen). They were the standouts by a long way.
Earlier Dashing Fellow won the Ambitious Dragon, and we managed to get out in the last thanks to Western Express and a QP with Jolly Jolly.
