Senga clears her name

She didn't do so well in the 1000 Guineas but Pascal Bary and Stephane Pasquier persuaded her owners not to give up on her.

And she rewarded their confidence by winning to Diane (French Oaks) at Chantilly on the brilliant sunny day. Sistercharlie didn't get the smoothest of runs and came in second just ahead of the lovely Terrakova. Shutter Speed, who did have the disadvantage of a car park draw, ran on well enough to take fourth and Turf Laurel, trained by our friend Satoshi Kobayashi ran a very creditable fifth. Yellow Storm, ridden by the first woman jockey to ride in a French Classic Maryline Eon, was eighth.

The shock in the race was Rhododendron who bled and was eased up by Ryan Moore.

Earlier the Prix Hocquart saw Ice Breeze who went off favourite win from the three other runners in the field.

The Bertrand du Breuil was a great result for Jean-Claude Rouget with his runners making the quinella although not in the expected order - it was Taareef who got the win over stablemate Zelzal by 1 3/4 lengths.
