Upset in Satsuki Sho
With an upset in the Oka Sho last week, the upsets continued on Sunday in Satsuki Sho.
The win went to Al Ain on 22.4 by a neck from Persian Knight 8.1 by a neck to give trainer Ikee the quinella. Danbrite on 56.1 was third and Clincher 76.7 fourth and Rey de Oro fifth. The filly Fan Dii Na was seventh, having been in the lead at one stage but she weakened on the uphill finish which is a very tough test as can be seen from the results.
The Derby will be run on the Fuchu track at Tokyo at the end of May and these results may not necessarily be repeated in Tokyo, for example Satono Ares produced the fastest 600m when he got clear from the pack.
Al Ain's time was a new record.
