Three-year-old Painting, stepped up to 1850m at his fourth run this preparation, also with the addition of blinkers, broke through for his first win in easy fashion. He settled nicely back in fifth place, one off the rails, before coming his run nearing the home turn. He took the lead at the 200m and then went on to win by just over three lengths, putting up a promising effort.
