NRL: Top eight on the line in derby clash

3 minute read

Gold Coast Titans and Brisbane Broncos have much more than bragging rights to play for when they clash in the Queensland derby on Saturday.

Both sides sit outside of the top eight and need a win to keep their finals hopes alive with the games fast running out.

The Titans sit on the same points as the Broncos but are a massive 34.00 to make the top eight. Brisbane on the other hand are 3.50 to do the same.

Meanwhile, Cronulla Sharks will be out to consolidate their place in the top four when they entertain South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Sharks are 1.66 to make the top four, but a win against the Rabbitohs, who are four points off the eight, is a must.

Titans out for derby double

. What: Gold Coast Titans v Brisbane Broncos
. Where: Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast
. When: 15:00 (AEST), Saturday 3rd August
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Gold Coast Titans 3.00, Brisbane Broncos 1.40

Gold Coast Titans have already shocked the Broncos on one occasion this season, and will be out to complete the double.

It was tight to say the least with the Titans eventually edging it by two points. It could be tight again and the Titans are 7.50 to win by 1-5 points.

The Titans are also going well at home, winning three of the last four games at Cbus Super Stadium, so the Broncos will have to be at their best.

Kevin Walters' side also have a good record at Cbus, winning seven of their last nine games at the venue.

Corey Oates comes into the side to replace Selwyn Cobbo, and the winger can be backed at 8.50 to grab the first try of the game.

Sharks look to bounce back

. What: Cronulla Sharks v South Sydney Rabbitohs
. Where: Shark Park, Sydney
. When: 19:35 (AEST), Saturday 3rd August
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Cronulla Sharks 1.33, South Sydney Rabbitohs 3.25

Cronulla will be looking to bounce back following an eight-point loss to North Queensland Cowboys last weekend.

The Sharks have been on a poor run, winning just two games out of the last eight, and need to rediscover their form quickly.

They will be delighted to be back on home soil and can be backed at 2.00 to win by 13+ points.

Sione Katoa also has a good record against the bunnies when scoring six tries in the last five games against them.

The winger can be backed at 5.50 to score the first try of the game.

The Rabbitohs need a win to keep their slim top-eight hopes alive, and are 9.00 to win by 1-5 points.
