Freddie ready for Moe success

The sixth race of the day at Moe is a 1014m Restricted 58 handicap set to take place on a heavy 9 track.

Royal Lane registered a good third when narrowly beaten in a Benchmark 58 handicap at this venue in April and she is expected to have her supporters.

The mare raced on a soft 7 track that day and has finished seventh in similar contests on quicker going on both subsequent starts.

The second of those saw her faded late on, having raced from the front over 1200m at Mornington and the drop in distance is in her favour.

However, she has a wide alley in this event and with that in mind SIR FREDDIE is preferred on this occasion.

Thomas Nikolic's gelding has shown a liking for wet tracks in the past, including when breaking his maiden on a heavy 9 track when debuting at Pakenham in 2021.

The five-year-old delivered a good two-length fourth in a Restricted 58 handicap over 1006m at Werribee on his first start of the year in early January.

The 4.80 pick has made just two subsequent starts having been spelled following a Cranbourne eighth 10 days later.

The son of Counterattack jumped at triple figure odds when making his return in a 1000m Benchmark 58 handicap on a soft 5 track at Bendigo earlier this month.

Thomas Stockdale's mount raced three wide, having jumped from a wide alley that day and with an inside barrier here he is selected to return to winning ways.

Pyrois to shine at Seymour

The finale at Seymour is an interesting Benchmark 64 handicap set to take place over 1200m.

Peter Gelagotis is represented by Margie's Boy here, with the gelding expected to have his supporters racing second up.

The five-year-old resumed with a good fourth when beaten less than a length in a 1000m Benchmark 70 handicap at Sale on 29th May.

The gelding raced on a good 4 track that day, but has performed well on soft surfaces in the past, including when winning on a soft 7 at Werribee in December.

The drop in grade is a positive, however PYROIS is the pick for the Tony & Calvin McEvoy team.

The 5.50 pick is a course winner already this prep having got home by a narrow margin when contesting a track and trip Benchmark 58 handicap in April.

The Written Tycoon gelding has registered solid efforts in two starts over 1400m subsequently most recently on the synthetic track at Ballarat on 28th May.

The selection has performed well on wet tracks in the past, including when breaking his maiden in similar conditions at Newcastle in October 2022.

Mitchell Aitken's mount wears a visor for the first time here and he looks up to recording the third win of his career.

Edge to claim Cup at Kempsey

The feature race on the Kempsey card is the 1450m Wauchope Cup which comes up as the penultimate contest on an eight-race card.

Cassandra Stummer sends out REBEL'S EDGE here, with the gelding having placed second in two of his four starts this prep.

Those four efforts include a three-length second when contesting a Benchmark 84 handicap over 1400m at Scone on his penultimate start.

The 5.50 selection performed well when racing on a soft 5 track that day, however he failed to shine in the 1614m Wingham Cup at Taree a week ago.

The five-year-old was never a factor having raced wide and without cover on that occasion, but he is capable of better than he showed that day.

Barrier two is a positive in this event and he is selected to register his first win since saluting over 1500m at Newcastle in November.
