Midweek racing took place at Randwick-Kensington and Ballarat on Wednesday, and we’ve got a horse to follow from each meeting.

Randwick-Kensington Race 2- Koshu

This was easily the win of the day in Sydney, with two-year-old filly Koshu backing up a very smart trial to win easily on debut under James Mcdonald. Settling in the three wide with cover line, the daughter of Satono Aladdin (Deep Impact) showed a neat turn of foot to put the race away within 100m. She ran a near identical last 600m to the Bm64 winner later on the day and was eased down late so the sectionals measure up well against the meeting. Trainer John O'Shea indicated that she may now be tipped out and prepare for a three-year-old campaign, and group class targets for 3yo fillies would be on the cards, with the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) an ideal early measuring stick.

Ballarat Race 4- Parisian Dancer

On a fairly thin meeting at Ballarat, I thought Parisian Dancer has the most scope to progress to better races this time in, with a solid win in testing conditions. She settled 4th of 5 and had to make a long run to grab the leader on the post which was against the on-pace pattern of the day. She's clearly shown a liking for wet ground, now two from two on heavy tracks, and she did run a peak performance at Flemington before a spell when 2nd in a Bm70. Any race around Bm70-78 grade at 2000m, especially against her own sex on a wet ground can see her measure up this time in.
