Midweek racing took place at Sale and Canterbury on Wednesday, and we’ve got a horse to follow from each.

Sale Race 3- Insulation

This was a lovely debut from the Peter Moody trained three-year-old Insulation who was strongly backed into $2.60 favourite and won in arrogant fashion over 1717m. By Intello, a French Derby winning son of Galileo, no doubt a genuine staying trip will be his forte and his strength late on debut was good, putting 3-¼ lengths on his nearest rival. An ideal, if somewhat lofty target for Insulation would be the Mahogany Series Final at Flemington for three-year-old stayers however if that comes around too soon, no doubt he can measure up and go through the grades at midweek level, especially as the distances increase.

Canterbury Race 3- Tinnie Winnie

There were a few big wins at Canterbury given the very heavy track, but Tinnie Winnie gets the nod given her time stacks up well against the day. She had to do a bit of work early to cross and find the front under James Mcdonald but kept them running around the bend and was stronger than anything through the line. Her overall time was some five lengths faster than the other 1550m race (also a Bm72) on the day, and she was the only horse to break 40 seconds for her last 600m all day. She's already won out to 2000m and given her strength at Canterbury she'll appreciate getting out in trip next start.
