PARLAY

RACE 5 (7) SHADES OF ROSE: This her third successive crack at the Rosehill 1100m and while she's taking on older rivals it looks her race to lose from a good draw after having obvious excuses in both starts since resuming. Bucked after her saddle slipped when resuming and then had to do too much work in the run last time in a stronger BM78 when run down late by The Big Easy after she was posted three wide without cover and left in front too early in the straight. Rises 4kg with the drop in grade to a BM72 but gets a big riding switch with James McDonald taking over from Rachel King

RACE 7 (14) ARAMIS: Progressive 3YO has missed a place just once in seven starts and gets his chance in town after impressive wins on affected tracks over 1600m at Gosford and Grafton. Put them away easily under 59kg in a C1 at Gosford before showing grit to win the Guineas at the Grafton carnival in the style of a horse looking for this longer trip. Gets right down in the weights after the claim for Tyler Schiller and with only 51.5kg is a worthy gamble against his older rivals.

RACE 10 (9) NERONE: With the Sydney tracks struggling to get out of the heavy range it's no surprise to see Victorian trainer Richard Laming keen to take advantage of the favourable conditions for this mudlark. His four heavy tracks starts have resulted in three wins and a third and he lands here in peak form off an easy 1400m win in the heavy at Sandown under 58.5kg. Sure to be popular with William Pike on board.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK June 28: Rising 5YO mare TWILIGHT AFFAIR has had only three starts for one provincial win but should add to that record on the form she displayed finishing a close second in the fastest 736m heat (43.69; 33.97). Tim Clark took hold from the start and sat widest around the turn before allowing the smooth striding mare to work into it from the 200m. Her surge to take two lengths off the winner in the last 50 metres was impressive, more so her strong work through and after the line. Confirmed her progress with a strong trial win at Warwick Farm on July 22, indicating she could be a quick climber through the classes when she resumes racing.

ROSEHILL June 20: DAME CARTLAND has race experience with one placing from starts and looks a nice winter prospect for the Waterhouse/Bott after winning her 900m heat (54.57; 34.85) with something in hand. Showed she had trained on nicely by winning a Randwick heat on the poly on July in good style.

HAWKESBURY May 30: Talented 3YO KALLOS showed his class to jump from a maiden to a G2 win in the spring and should come back a better horse after dominating the fastest 800m heat from the front and sprinting up a fast last 400m under a soft ride (47.17; 33.36), holding a comfortable 1.5 lengths margin at the finish. Trialled again on the poly at Randwick on June 14, finishing second in the fastest heat over 780m.
