RANDWICK SATURDAY

THE PARLAY

RACE 3 (5) KANAZAWA: Last Saturday's wash out at Rosehill put him on ice for an extra week but this race is pretty much the same set up for him in the same class. He's been excellent filling minor placings in his two starts since resuming and is poised to progress from his third in a hot form race won by the flying Jo Jo Was A Man over this course and distance a month ago when posting the strongest closing sectionals. Showed he could handle the heavy at his prior run when beaten a nose first-up over 1200m at this course and he has the right pedigree to be a swimmer, being by Lonhro out of a Commands mare.

RACE 6 (6) CONSCRIPT: Made a strong return to racing after five months off getting home for third over this course and distance on June 25 when posting the second fastest last 600m of the day under 58kg. It was a sure sign he has come up in the right form to add to a very consistent record of five wins and five placings from 14 starts with the winter conditions no concern as three of his wins have been on soft and heavy tracks. Tim Clark dragged him back from a wide gate first-up but expect a more aggressive ride this time.

RACE 7 (11) WAIHAHA FALLS: He was the clear top rater in his abandoned race at Rosehill last Saturday and there is no reason to steer away from him this week as he is favourably placed to go on from his dominant first-up win in a BM78 over this course and distance a month ago when he posted big figures. He rises in class but he's unbeaten on soft and heavy tracks and the 2kg claim for crack apprentice Reece Jones gives him a big advantage as he will be carrying 1.5kg under the limit.

THE QUADDIE LEGS

RACE 3: No concern having to wait the extra week for (5) KANAZAWA - he's ready to peak and will relish the wet conditions. (11) RIDUNA is improving with every start and rates well off her easy front running Newcastle win. Expect an aggressive ride on her home track. The extra week pushes (3) AND WE DANCED out to 42 days between runs without a trial but she gets Bowman for the first time - has Waller found the key to getting the best out of her? (2) LEASE has come up well and will appreciate the 2kg claim.

RACE 4: A fitter (10) KIRKEBY has solid slow and heavy form and I like his chances getting right down in the weights from his last start second at Canterbury, giving him a handy advantage over the favourite (4) NOTHINSWEETABOUTME. (5) PHILPSBURG is another at good odds who will appreciate the heavy conditions. Cannot shoot holes in (2) LA CHEVALEE's wet form at Randwick but seven weeks between runs and only one start in 11 weeks is not ideal against race fit rivals. (7) TINNIE WINNIE is in the mix but all her better form is at Canterbury.

RACE 5: Wide open affair so you could do worse than have an each way ticket on the emergency (19) JUST BUSINESS if he gets a start as his latest effort had merit and he'll be open to more improvement third up. If he misses the consistent (13) TYMPANIST rates as well as any of them with an edge in the weights. No surprise if the winner comes from (4) CRUEL SUMMER, (5) OAKFIELD PRINCE, (6) RONDINO and (8) BUBA.

RACE 6: Confident the talented (6) CONSCRIPT is in for a good prep. Ran on for strong placing first-up and expect he'll be ridden closer to the lead this time. (1) EASY SINGLE has the right form and benefits from a 3kg allowance but he's done it all at 1000m - will he get 1100m on a genuine heavy? A freshened (2) SNOWZONE also gets a claim and is set for this off a good trial while (9) FASTCONI is always a knockout threat if she runs to her best. Respect for heavy track winner (4) STOICAL back home from Brisbane and down in class.

RACE 7: The big first-up win by (11) WAIHAHA FALLS was extraordinary and says he can sweep through the winter classes. Clearly rates as the one to beat carrying 1.5kg under the limit after Reece Jones takes his claim. (9) SNIPPY FOX was an eye catcher first-up and a subsequent trial will have brought him on nicely. (5) POETIC CHARMER and (12) EL BUENA are musts for the exotics. (1) INN KEEPER has a big record on slow/heavy tracks.

RACE 8: (12) JOJO WAS A MAN has been good to us. Stick with him to stay unbeaten over this course and distance due to his significant 5.5kg drop in weight from his latest win. Must save on the Victorian (15) CHIEF ALTONY – his rails draw is a concern but he was a certainty beaten under 60kg at Caulfield last time and his wet form is impeccable. Mudlark (3) TAKSU got all the favours in front last time on a good track. Back on the heavy suits but he'll find this tougher with 2.5kg more. (1) OSCAR ZULU meets him 1.5kg better but has drawn the car park – could he be in the right place late in the day?

RACE 9: Proven wet tracker (5) IRISH ANGEL is a solid value play as she is well placed on her best form with Bowman back aboard to save her for a late run. There will be good pace with last start Rosehill winner (2) RUBINOCCHI sure to go for the lead but she'll have plenty of company to ensure she is tested under 60kg. The speed will also suit (1) SIEGE but she's creeping up in the weights going for four wins on the on the bounce. (9) STAR CHERIE had excuses second up in a similar race here two weeks ago and can put value into the exotics. Wary of the Victorian wet tracker (11) BEATRIX landing here with gear changes.

RACE 10: Track pattern late in the day will be important as obvious pace from the likes of (1) TITANIUM POWER, (7) CROSS TALK, (9) FOR VALOUR and (12) ZOROCAT can set this up for the closer (4) SILENT AGENDA. He's set for a good prep after he surged home with a fast last 200m first-up at Rosehill and Randwick suits him better. Could Tim Clark take a sit on CROSS TALK? He rates well coming off his second to Jojo Was A Man in a hot form race where he finished in front of two subsequent winners. Expect a rebound by ex-Kiwi mare (13) PER INAWAY after a flat effort last time. Victorian raider (14) CYCLONE SALLY is here for the wet track. She's been flying in midweeks at Sandown.

TRIAL POINTERS

WYONG June 29: Godolphin took the opportunity to send a couple of nice rising 3YOs with city prospects. They included the good filly TROACH working easily within herself to win the fastest 2YO heat over 845m (51.44).

ROSEHILL June 20: The big grey LOVE TAP failed to fire first-up in Melbourne but was back on his game to post an easy five lengths win in his 1030m heat (62.19; 34.79), indicating he will be a lot fitter next time out. Took up the running to lead comfortably and would like to see him ridden this way the next time he goes to the races

HAWKESBURY May 30: Talented 3YO KALLOS showed his class to jump from a maiden to a G2 win in the spring and should come back a better horse after dominating the fastest 800m heat from the front and sprinting up a fast last 400m under a soft ride (47.17; 33.36), holding a comfortable 1.5 lengths margin at the finish. Trialled again on the poly at Randwick on June 14, finishing second in the fastest heat over 780m won by the promising De An Andretti (44.86; 32.32).
