Rich Hill Stud shuttler Satono Aladdin (Deep Impact) sired his first Australian winner - third Southern Hemisphere-bred winner - when Koshu impressed on debut. 

Under James McDonald, the Brent and Cherry Taylor-owned Koshu showed an impressive turn of foot to score a three and a quarter length victory in the Hyland Race Colours Maiden Handicap (1100m) at Randwick Kensington.

The filly had won a Randwick trial earlier this month and the style of Wednesday's victory impressed her trainer. 

"To come here and do that off one 740 (metre barrier trial) is testament to her quality," trainer John O'Shea said. 

"It's a good time of year to have a nice horse in. 

"You get a chance to put them back out and regroup for the spring and we will do that with her." 

Bred by Trelawney Stud, Koshu is a half-sister to Group 1 winners A Touch Of Ruby (Pins) and Lore (Redoute's Choice). She becomes the third Southern Hemisphere-bred winner for her sire who has also produced the stakes placed colt Sacred Satono. 

Satono Aladdin's 2022 fee at Rich Hill Stud has been set at NZ$12,500 (plus GST). He is currently sitting third in the leading first season sires table by earnings with that list headed by Cambridge Stud shuttler Almanzor (Wootton Bassett).
