Pensioned sire son of Redoute’s Choice dies at the age of 21.
Arrowfield Stud announced on Monday that pensioned sire Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) had been euthanised. The son of Redoute's Choice was retired from stud duties in January 2020 due to a progressive lung disease and over the past few days his condition had steadily deteriorated. He was 21.
Arrowfield's Chairman John Messara said: "Not A Single Doubt was a very special friend to everyone at Arrowfield, and a wonderful flag-bearer for us and for his sire Redoute's Choice.
"He carved out an exceptional stud career on sheer merit and we are incredibly proud of him, and everything he has contributed to the Australian thoroughbred industry.
"I'm grateful to Ron Finemore who led his original ownership group and always believed in Not A Single Doubt, to all the breeders who supported him, and to the buyers, owners and trainers who backed his progeny, especially in those critical early years.
"And thank you to our stallion and veterinary staff for their devoted care of Not A Single Doubt, particularly since his retirement."
Bred by Arrowfield and John Lever, Not A Single Doubt was offered at the 2003 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where Graeme Rogerson paid $210,000 for the colt with Arrowfield remaining in the ownership.
Not A Single Doubt scored a five length debut win at Rosehill in November 2003 and became the first stakes winner for his sire when he won the Listed Canonbury Stakes (1000m) at Randwick the following month.
Transferred from Rogerson to Tony Vasil, Not A Single Doubt raced five times at three, winning the Listed Zeditave Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in January 2005. He finished sixth, beaten a length and a half in the Group 1 C F Orr Stakes (1400m) behind Elvstroem (Danehill), and he also placed second in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Cup (1400m). He retired the winner of four of his 10 career starts.
Not A Single Doubt stood his first season at stud in 2005 for a fee of $13,750 (inc GST), covering a book of 128 mares. His fee remained at that level for the next five seasons and in 2019 he stood for a career high fee of $110,000.
He has produced 79 stakes winners to date and of those 16 have won at Group 1 level. His first stakes winner was the Peter Moody-trained Doubtful Jack and he leaves a number of sons at stud including Extreme Choice and Farnan.
His final crop were sold at the yearling sales this year and at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale John O'Shea bought a filly by the sire out of Presque Isle (Zenno Rob Roy) for $1.25 million, giving Not A Single Doubt his 12th seven figure yearling.
