Snitzel and Written Tycoon add juvenile stakes winners
120 for Snitzel
Arrowfield Stud's champion sire Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) added to his stakes tally on Saturday with Williamsburg (2 c ex Fenway by High Chaparral) becoming the 120th stakes winner for his sire when he won the Schweppervescence (Gr 3, 1400m) at Rosehill. Williamsburg, who beat Moko (Impending) by a head with Matcha Latte (Maurice) four and a half lengths further back in third, was bought for $470,000 by Tony Fung Investments at last year's Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud who will offer the colt's sister as Lot 166 at this year's sale. Williamsburg is the second winner out of Vinery Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Fenway (High Chaparral).
Snitzel has sired 15 stakes winners so far this season, sitting at the head of the leading sires table in Australia by stakes winners with Wild Ruler his leading earner. Williamsburg was the 46th juvenile stakes winner for his sire with that group headed by Group 1 winners Sizzling, Estijaab, Sword Of State, Summer Passage and Invader.
Williamsburg handles the tough conditions best in the Schweppervescence.
