Lindsay Park's Tijuana remains unbeaten taking the Anzac Day Stakes

Tijuana (2 c ex Mexican Rose by Volkraad) remained unbeaten when the Ben and JD Hayes-trained colt won Monday's Anzac Day Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Flemington. In winning, the colt became the 27th stakes winner for Coolmore Stud's shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile). 

Winner on debut on March 31, Tijuana went to the front from the barriers and was strong to the line, beating Alcedo (Smart Missile) by three quarters of a length. 

The BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 28 and the J J Atkins Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) in June could now be on the cards for the son of American Pharoah. 

"I want to see how he pulls up," Ben Hayes said. 

"Whether or not we put him away and target the Caulfield Guineas in the spring, or whether we look at a trip to Brisbane, that's what we'll have to work out. 

"That was really exciting, so we'll have to have a think about it, but he's got a very exciting future." 

Bred by Eureka Stud and Black Soil Bloodstock, Tijuana is the last foal out of Mexican Rose (Volksraad). He was bought by Best Bloodstock and Lindsay Park Racing for $100,000 at last year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when offered by Eureka Stud. 

American Pharoah has now sired three stakes winner in Australia with Head Of State and Pretty Amazing his others.
