Well-related filly a chance to deliver Group 1 dream to big group of MyRacehorse owners.
MyRacehorse bought into Mac 'N' Cheese with the express aim of trying to have a Group 1 presence early in its Australian tenure.
It didn't eventuate in spring, but the half-sister to Exceedance has the chance to give her big team of owners their greatest thrill in racing in Saturday's Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville.
MyRacehorse leveraged a partnership with Spendthrift Farm, with whom it combined to win the 2020 Kentucky Derby with Authentic, to get involved in Mac 'N' Cheese who has been a great early advertisement for the concept in Australia.
"Spendthrift is a great partner of ours and they offered us the opportunity to buy 10 percent in Mac 'N' Cheese so we could bring some owners on an exciting journey of racehorse ownership," MyRacehorse's General Manager of Marketing, Ben Willis, said.
"We're so young in Australia – we haven't even been in market yet for 12 months – and to have a Group 1 runner already is a really exciting opportunity, not just for MyRacehorse but also the owners who have put faith in us by buying shares in the horses we provide.
"As a brand we stand by the proposition 'elite racing, affordable ownership' and Mac 'N' Cheese is a really clear demonstration of that."
MyRacehorse had 733 owners pay a one-off fee of $275 to be involved in the daughter of Sebring and Thorn Park mare Bonnie Mac, who cost $300,000 the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
That was just two months after her older half-brother Exceedance (Exceed And Excel) won the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m), while the only other product Bonnie Mac has had to the races is last year's Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1000m) winner Oxley Road (Exceed And Excel).
That will ensure those who invested in Mac 'N' Cheese will get a return on their investment when she retires, but her value will sky-rocket with a Group 1 win.
The Tony and Calvin Mcevoy-trained filly overcame difficulty in each of her first two starts this preparation to win, the latter in the Listed Clare Lindop Stakes (1600m), before rounding out her preparations with a third placing in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m).
"She just lost a bit of condition in spring so the McEvoys put her into the paddock and gave her time to grow and mature and it's done her the world of good," Willis said.
"She has definitely come back a bigger and more exciting animal this autumn campaign."
The scratching of Pretty Amazing means Mac 'N' Cheese will start from the second-widest gate in the field of 16, in which she will be ridden byBarend Vorster.
