Newgate Farm's stallion extends lead of first season sires table
Newgate Farm's Russian Revolution (Snitzel) sired his tenth winner on Sunday and extended his lead at the head of the leading first season sires table.
The Robert Heathcote-trained Ekaterina (2 f ex Funtantes by Easy Rocking), a half-sister to Group 1 placed stablemate Startantes (Star Turn) being out of Funtantes, broke her maiden over 1000 metres at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, providing her sire with his tenth winner.
Russain Revolution is well clear in the leading first season sires table by earnings with his progeny prize money earnings at $1,582,110, over $775,000 ahead of nearest rival The Mission (Choisir). He is now one winner ahead of The Mission in the table by winners, while Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock) has eight winners in Australia so far.
Russian Revolution will stand for $71,500 (inc GST) this spring, up from $44,000 last year when the son of Snitzel (Redoute's Choice) covered 168 mares.
