New stakes winners
47 for Blackfriars

Blackfriars (Danehill) added his 47th stakes winner to his tally when Black Fantasy (3 g ex Dreamalong by Southern Image) won the Listed Aquanita Stakes (2000m) at Belmont Park on Saturday. A $36,000 purchase by Pearce Racing at the 2020 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the draft of Scenic Lodge, Black Fantasy beat his stablemate Outspoken Lad (Awesome Rock) by a head. Blackfriars stood at Scenic Lodge and was euthanised in 2017 after breaking a leg following colic surgery.

 

Four for Kermadec
Kermadec (Teofilo) sired his fourth stakes winner when Tuvalu (4 g ex Hangin' Tough by Exceed And Excel) won the Listed Winter Championship (1600m) at Flemington. Winning his seventh race in 11 starts, placing at his other four, Tuvalu, a $200,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase by Boomer Bloodstock and Les Smith from the draft of Merricks Station, beat Sir Davy (Street Boss) by two lengths. Kermadec is based at Darley's Northwood Park in Victoria.

 

Nine for Shalaa
Arrowfield Stud's Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) sired his ninth stakes winner when Quang Tri (2 f ex Saigon Tea by Thorn Park) impressively took out the Listed Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m) at Flemington. Having her fifth start having broken her maiden at Swan Hill last start, Quang Tri beat Kings Consort (Ilovethiscity) by a length. The filly is the fourth Australian-bred juvenile winner by Shalaa who will stand for a fee of $33,000 (inc GST) this spring.
