The brother to Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (2400m) winner Sottsass (Siyouni) topped the second day of the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale on Sunday when bought for €2.1 million by Japanese trainer Yoshito Yahagi.

"I love this colt," he said afterwards.

"He has an exceptional pedigree being a brother to Sottsass and My Sister Nat, that was second behind one of my horses in the Breeders' Cup last year. He'll come back to Japan and I hope he will win the Japanese Derby!"

The colt, who became the second seven figure purchase of the sale so far, was consigned by Ecurie des Monceaux as Lot 154. He is out of the Galileo (Sadler's Wells) mare Starlet's Sister who has produced seven other winners including multiple Grade 1 winner Sistercharlie (Myboycharlie) and the Group winner My Sister Nat (Acclamation).

Later in the evening Yahagi added another purchase, securing a son of Kingman for €560,000. The colt was sold as Lot 183 and is out of the stakes placed mare Waldjagd (Observatory) who is already the dam of stakes winning duo Urwald (Le Havre) and Waldbiene (Intello).

Of the 80 yearlings offered on Sunday, 84% changed and for an average of €233,015, generating a turnover of €15,612,000, while the aggregate finished at €35,592,000 for the first two sessions.
