Colts from the first Australian-bred crops of Darley shuttlers Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) and Blue Point (Shamardal) sold well during the opening session of the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale on Wednesday.

The most expensive of this duo was a son of Too Darn Hot who was bought by POB Bloodstock for $320,000. Offered by Fairhill Farm as Lot 242, the colt is the fifth foal out of the twice-raced Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mare Majesty who has already produced two winners headed by the Listed winning filly Lady Of Honour (No Nay Never).

"I love the stallion [Too Darn Hot], we've got nine foals by him on the farm [Segenhoe] and I think he's going to be a big chance to make it here in Australia,'' said purchase Peter O'Brien.

"More importantly, this colt today is a magnificent type, great mover and from a great farm. For us he was a no-brainer.

"This fella will be right up there when he comes back to Segenhoe [with the other foals on the farm], he's as good a foal as I've seen all year.

"At the end of the day we expected he'd make around $300,000, so we had to go a little more but we're delighted to get him.''

Too Darn Hot had two weanlings sell on Wednesday, with the other lot being a colt out of Birdy O'Reilly (O'Reilly) who made $170,000 when bought by STAS Bloodstock. The son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) covered 130 mares in 2020 and 131 last year at a fee of $44,000 (inc GST).

Blue Point also shuttled to Australia for the first time in 2020 and the sole lot offered by him on Wednesday was sold to Jim Carey for $290,000. Consigned by Sledmere Stud as Lot 214, the colt is the first foal out of the stakes placed Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) mare Lady Loire and further back this is the family of Group 1 winners Triscay (Marscay), Lar Baraka (Euclase) and Alizee (Sepoy).
