Mac backed for Nottingham gains

3 minute read

Phantasy Mac attempts to continue George Boughey’s fantastic start to the 2022 season and she looks the one to side with in the Watch On Racing TV Fillies’ Handicap at Nottingham.

The three-year-old has been in fine fettle in the early part of the year and made it a hat-trick of victories when transferring her smart all-weather form to turf over course and distance earlier this month.

She was handed a 5lb rise for that one-and-three-quarter-length victory, but was always doing enough and could be still ahead of the handicapper despite going up 12lb in the ratings since starting her winning run in March.

William Buick returns to the saddle to add to the optimism and although there is a couple of interesting entrants, including recent Cheshire Oaks runner Improvise and Beverley runner-up Yummylicious, Phantasy Mac is backed to continue her rich vein of form.

Yagood proved to be a consistent performer on the all-weather this winter and is another to run well on his return to the grass last time. Joseph Parr's six-year-old was beaten just a neck at Doncaster on that occasion and could oblige off only a 1lb higher rating in the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap.

Dreams Of Thunder could confirm the promise of some smart two-year-old efforts when making her first start for Amy Murphy in the racingtv.com Fillies' Handicap. The daughter of Night Of Thunder made the podium in all but one of her six outings at two, with her sole disappointment coming when sights were raised in the Lowther Stakes.

She has joined a team that is well on its way to bettering last year's tally of 16 winners and the three-year-old could take plenty of beating off a mark of 72.

Elsewhere at Colwick Park, do not be surprised to see the east midlands air return the reappearing Aristobulus to winning ways in the Follow @racingtv On Twitter Handicap. James Ferguson's son of Adaay was a commanding course-and-distance winner of a nursery last summer and made a bold bid off a mark just 1lb lower than his current figure at Goodwood when last seen.

The unbeaten Yonafis could be the star attraction at Wolverhampton as William Haggas' son of Golden Horn steps into the handicap ranks for the first time in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap. The colt has won both starts so far, which have both been on the all-weather and the form of those victories have a solid look to them.

The second on debut was an impressive six-length winner next time and was subsequently deemed good enough to run in a Doha local Group Two, while the runner-up on Yonafis' second start, Mr Big Stuff, has since finished second to recent York winner Al Qareem at Nottingham and also run with credit in Newbury's London Gold Cup.

Others to note at Dunstall Park include Rose's Girl in the At The Races App Market Movers Handicap and course winner Captain Kane in the Download The At The Races App Handicap, with George Scott's charge in rude health on the synthetics of late.

At Brighton, Salisbury runner-up Victorious Night can make it a successful afternoon in the Go Racing With vickers.bet Handicap with Sam Hitchcock replacing an apprentice in the saddle, while track regular Beau Geste was a promising third on the south coast last month and the course-and-distance winner is just 1lb higher as he goes for glory in the Join The Bet Club At vickers.bet Handicap.
