Attention turns to Epsom Downs on Sunday, with our team finding two selections…
The market would suggest the result is a foregone conclusion in the one mile, half-a-furlong Betfred Derby 'Wild Card' EBF Conditions Stakes but the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained The Green Mile makes appeal at 9/1. Heavy ground is a question mark for the majority of the field and the same comment applies to this colt, although early evidence suggests the offspring of Waldgeist operate in slower conditions. The juvenile made his debut at Bath in mid-September, breaking slowly out of the stalls and showing signs of inexperience in the early stages before making headway with two furlongs to run. He kept on well to record a three-quarter length success and the current available price of 9/1 appears too long if The Green Mile comes forward for the run.
WIN – THE GREEN MILE – 9/1
Although the current price of 5/2 for White Chapel Road may not appeal to all, the Paul and Oliver-trained colt gets the nod in the seven-furlong Betfred 'Double Delight' Nursery Handicap. The son of Land Force has taken a little time to come to hand and appeared he would come forward for the run when fourth in a Goodwood maiden. The colt finished in a credible midfield position in the valuable Convivial Maiden Stakes at York before securing his maiden win at Brighton on good to firm. The ground will be a question mark but the colt appears to be hitting his best form now.
WIN - WHITE CHAPEL ROAD - 5/2
