York Ebor festival 2022

3 minute read

Wednesday sees the start of this top August attraction with the G1 Juddmonte International the feature.

York has dodged the rain falling to the south so that they are going to water the course before racing on Wednesday.

The G3 Accomb is for the 2yos over 1400m with 9 to run.  This often throws up a surprise as some of the runners are not that experienced however the market has Godolphin's Local Dynasty on 2/1 for Appleby-Buick following a win on debut by the Dubawi product.  Mill Stream is by Gleneagles and with Jane Chapple-Hyam with Adam Kirby on board and 7/2 the quote.  He's got a 2nd and a win from the two starts to date.  Chaldean is by Frankel and trained by Andrew Balding with Ryan Moore getting the ride and 11/2 the quote.

The Great Voltigeur is G2 for 3yo c&g over 2400m and a field of 6.  Secret State Appleby-Buick is going for his 5th consecutive win and is on 2/1.  Irish raider Aikhal is considered the main danger on 5/2 for Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore.

The G1 feature Juddmonte International is over 2100m and has 6 runners headed by the wonderful Baaeed who is going for a 10th win from 10 starts.  While this trip is longer there is no reason to think he won't manage it and trainer Haggas is confident as is jockey Crowley.  Mishriff won this race last year and is the main challenger with James Doyle riding for the Gosdens.
