One of a group of horses starting on the second level Elusive Panther won the Tokyo Shimbun Hai.

The favourite Fine Rouge was 1 ¾ lengths away as horses seemed to struggle up the hill to the finish.  Karate was a neck away in third and Ho O Amazon is still running.

At Chukyo it was much easier for the favourite Matenro Leo who won the Kisaragi Sho by a nose over Dante's View with Meisho Gekirin on 27.2 the third home.
