There was interesting racing both at Del Mar and the Spa over the weekend.

At Saratoga Jackie's Warrior had no problems in winning the Alfred G Vanderbuilt Gr 1 and really no competition from the other 5 starters.

But the Jim Dandy Gr 2 saw an upset when Early Voting got downed by Epicenter with Joel Rosario riding the Asmussen winner.

At San Diego there was much interest in the San Diego Handicap and County Grammar's first start since winning the Dubai World Cup but as suspected this may have been a bit too sharp in trip for him at this stage and the win went to the Brazilian bred Royal Ship with Mike Smith riding for Richard Mandella and winning by 2 ¼ lengths with Stilleto Bay 4 ½ lengths back in third.

The Bing Crosby saw a win by American Theorem on 8/1 from Get Her Number on 7/1.

Sunday the Eddie Read went to Master Piece with the d'Amato pair of Hong Kong Harry and Cathkin Peak finishing second and third.  Beyond Brilliant wasn't and finished 6th.
