The Hong Kong Classic Mile over 1800m went to favourite California Spangle.

Another good ride from Zac Purton saw the son of Starspangledbanner produce a win for trainer Tony Cruz.  It's a further 200 metres in the Derby and that might be close to the limit for the horse although he continues to look like a very good horse indeed.

His nemesis up to now and winner of the first leg of the 4yo classics Romantic Warrior did not have a good trip as having drawn wide Karis Teetan said he found if very difficult to get his horse into a better position and as a result he raced wide for most of the trip and had to settle for fourth.  Turin Redsung ran second for Douglas Whyte and Badel with Money Catcher third.

In the get-out race 10 we were delighted to see out tip Cordyceps Six run out the winner of the 1200m Class 2 with another good ride from Blake Shinn.  Blaze Warrior was second and Trillion Win third.  As always in these 1200m races there was a number of hard luck stories but the winner is starting to justify Richard Gibson's faith in him.
