The Golden Shaheen was a great result for the locals with Switzerland coming out the winner for young trainer Bhupat Seemar and jockey Tadhg O'Shea, who emotionally dedicated the win to a cousin who is very ill in Ireland.  The Japanese ran second with Red Le Zele and favourite Dr Schivel third.

The Dubai turf was a dead heat between the Japanese runner Panthalassi, giving trainer Yahagi a treble for the night, and last year's winner Lord North, with Japan getting the third with Vin de Garde and fourth to Jane Chapple-Hyam's Saffron Beach so there was a small but vocal cheer squad for Saffron Beach.  4th money is US$250,000 so not too shabby.

The Sheema was a thriller with Japan getting the 5th win of the night when the gorgeous Sharyar saluted under Cristian Demuro, getting the better of brother Mirco who was 9th on Stella Veloce.  Second home was the favourite Yibir and third the leader for most of the race and our pick authority.

The Cup has seen a top ride from veteran jockey Frankie Dettori on Country Grammer who finished ahead of a very gallant Hot Rod Charlie and Life is Good, who led into the straight, ran out of gas and finished in fourth with Midnight Bourbon fifth.
