2021 Horse of the Year Efforia was making her seasonal debut, but as often happens another year older and it takes them longer to hit their top form.  Then Jack d'Or was fancied by many (yours truly included) and had the race been 1800m he would have won but he led all the way and that's hard to do at the best of times least of all in a G1, so 200m from home he ran out of gas and finished 5th.

The win went to Potager, a nice Deep Impact who was carefully nursed through the field by Hayato Yoshida winning by a neck from last year's winner Lei Papale who brought her A-Game to the track with the margin just a neck.  Arrivo was third.
