One of the first to congratulate him on his 2000 Guineas win was fellow Godolphin rider William Buick who was on the second home favourite Native Trails beaten by Doyle on Coroebus.  They finished 1 ½ lengths in front of Irish raider Luxembourg.

In the 1000 Guineas Doyle was on board the George Boughey trained Cachet who was on 16/1.  They finished a neck in front of Prosperous Voyage whom we thought might have been by Mendelssohn (Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage overture) but she isn't – she's by Zoffany and Cachet is by Aclaim.  Third home was the O'Brien Tuesday under Frankie Dettori and she is by Galileo out of that lovely mare Lillie Langtry.  We have to report that Wild Beauty was to say the least disappointing – there has to be a reason for this as she is much better than how she ran on Sunday.

On Saturday William Buick had ridden the winner of the Palace House Stakes Khaadam who had come from gate 1 so Buick took the direct route while all the other riders switched to the other side of the track.  In the Guineas Coroebus came out of gate 1 and Native Trail was over in 15 so there could have been a bit of track bias here.

Sunday's other group race the G2 Dahlia Stakes went to Dreamloper for Ed Walker and Kieren Shoemark by a nose from favourite Sir Michael Stoute's Ville de Grace, with Ebaiyra third.
