Yutaka Take won his 6th Derby at the age of 53, and in race record time.

The winner was towards the back of the field early on but Take has a good sense of when to move and patiently waited for the right opportunity to charge up the hill and through to the finish.  Equinox came out of the pack to give the winner something to think about without being able to pass him and Ask Victor More clung on gamely for the third money ahead of the favourite Danon Beluga.

As usual quite a number of these either failed to get the trip or failed to cope with the rise at the top of the straight and you could see some very tired 3yos at the end.
