Well, we mentioned in the preview about needing luck to win at Epsom and Emily Upjohn did not have it.  She's a big girl and probably got in her own way as she knuckled over at the start and lost about 5 lengths.  However Dettori didn't panic, got her settled, and then set about going round the field which he was doing successfully until he got to Tuesday and the two battled out a thrilling finish with the verdict in a head-bobber going to Tuesday and the margin officially a short head.

Tuesday obviously was a very late foal and most of us felt she might need more time to grow a bit more but she obviously has the right genes and she had the right pilot in Ryan Moore who kept her comfortable throughout the race.

Unfortunately for Hollie Doyle she failed to become the first woman jockey to win the Oaks with Nashwa finishing third.  Nashwa was a bit keen in the early stages and that may have cost her the race as she finished 3 lengths behind the first two but there will be more rides in the future for Hollie and at least she beat husband Tom whose Tranquil Lady finished 6th.

Concert Hall was 4th.

Earlier the Coronation Cup went to the Owen Burrows trained Hukum with Jim Crowley riding for the Shadwell runner and Pyledriver was second and pace-setter High Definition third.  All three could probably head to the King George later in the summer possibly via a run at Royal Asoct.

The weather was near perfect and the track was good without being hard so now it is on to the Derby.
