Shergar Cup Day at Ascot

And it could be another one for the girls

Or "Ladies" as they are referred to in the official program and the 4 are Jo Mason, Hayley Turner, Nicola Currie and Emma-Jayne Wilson.  They look like having 5 good chances in the 8 race program.

The GB and Ireland team consists of Jamie Spencer, Dan Tudhope, Neil Callan and Kieran Shoemark and they look good in 4 of the races.

The Europe Team is headed by Frankie Dettori with Rene Pietchuluk, Antonio Fresu and Jose Luis Martinez and they have 5 chances of finishing in the top 2.

The Rest of the World team is headed by Kerrin McEvoy with Christophe Lemaire, Jason Collett and Takashi Yokoyama taking on the challenge but they seem to have fared the worst of the draw.

Whatever the result there is always a great party on course after the races.

At Haydock it is Rose of Lancaster day with the G3 over 2100m attracting 10 runners.  Grocer Jack has ticked all the boxes so far and is on 6.4 for William Haggas and Tom Marquand.  Anmaat is 5/1 for Owen Burrows and Jim Crowley and we rather like the chances of Intellogent for Jane Chapple-Hyam and Adam Kirby.  We should also watch out for Godolphin's Passion and Glory 7/1 as he's entered in both Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

At Newmarket it's the Sweet Solera G3 for 2yo fillies with the Johnston's trying to add to Mark's previous 3 wins in the last 8 runnings of this race.  They saddle Lakota Sioux, a tail-swishing daughter of Sioux Nation who was third in the Chesham and will be ridden by James Doyle and they are on 10/3.  Favourite is Novakai who was impressive on debut but we are wary of second starts and may find the 3/1 a bit skinny and go for Ivory Madonna 4/1 who was third in the Albany.
