Aussies in Europe this Sunday

3 minute read

Artorius is running at Deauville and Kerrin McEvoy riding in Dusseldorf.

Artorius is running in the Prix Maurice de Gheest G1 over 1300m and there is a field of 14 headed by the Godolphin runner Naval Crown on 3/1 for Appleby- James Doyle.  Perfect Power is on 7/2 for Richard Fahey who has booked Christophe Soumillon for the ride and then Artorius, with Jamie Spencer is on 5/1.

There is a Japanese runner here in King Hermes for Yahagi-sensei and Sakai – they are on 50/1 but could be worth an e/w.

Earlier there is the Prix de Reux – Copa Jockey Club Argentina 140th Anniversary G3 over 2400m.  6 runners with the Rouget Glycon favourite and we like Godolphin-France's Botanik who is with Andre Fabre with Mikael Barzalona on board and 5/1.  Iresine is 7/4.

At Duuseldorf it's German Oaks day – the G1 Preis der Diane with a field of 13.  O'Brien's Toy looks well-placed here with Ryan Moore riding and they are on 10/3.  Peter Schiergen's Nachtrose is on 9/2 with Murzabayev riding and 5/1 the quote for Wagnis.  The Aussie influence comes in the form of Toskana Belle, owned by Australian Bloodstock and currently trained by Andreas Wöhler and the jockey is Kerrin McEvoy, who was riding at Ascot on Saturday, no doubt to give the connections an opinion on this daughter of Shamalgan.

The earlier race is the Fritz Henkel Stiftung-Rennen G3 over 1200m with a field of 8.  Andres Suborics Best Lightning is on top here on 6/4 with Martin Seidl riding and the Schiergen pair of Calif and Sahib's Joy next in the market.
