Winning Trainer: Desleigh Forster
Pre-race tactics: "All I said to J Byrne was 'don't go slow'. Use his speed, use his gate, dig him and send him, get to the 3 (300m) and let him go. If they are good enough to run past him, they are good enough but if they are not, too bad. They weren't a hope, they just left him in front and he just walked"
Thoughts on Apache Chase: "He means the world to me."
Thanks the owner M Sherrin: "He's sitting in my office having a drink I suppose, watching on his own in the office. No doubt he will celebrate with me later."
"They've been so good to me. They've trusted me with this horse. We could of sold this horse 18 months ago. Mike said 'do you think he can win a Group 1?', I said 'yeah'. I said to J Byrne 'can we win a Group 1', he said 'can I ride', I said 'yeah' and he said - 'we can win a Group 1'."
Thanking her team: "I've only got a small team, I can name them all on one hand. This is for everyone. My Mum will be ecstatic. She'll probably be on the couch crying."
On winning a Group 1: "I dared to dream. I thought if a horse could do me a Group 1 this horse would."
Winning Jockey: Jim Byrne
On the tactics: "It was just going back to basics. Des spoke to us beforehand and she said, 'let's just go back to basics and ride the horse the way we know that he can do it' and that's basically what we did."
On what the win means: "It's pretty special to be able to win a Grouo 1 for Des. We're pretty tight, we've been tight for a lot of years and I've got to say this is really close to my heart today."
Beaten Jockeys
Brenton Avdulla (Private Eye): "He ran great. He never had much luck from the draw, no doubt if he drew a gate he posies up and probably close. He'll be ready to go in two weeks."
Rachel King (Laws Of Indices): "He's actually ru really well, bad gate just got us today, and lack of speed."
Nash Rawiller (Ellsberg): "Caught three-wide without cover and just couldn't finish off."
Hugh Bowman (Eleven Eleven): "It was a superb run, he's really on track for the Stradbroke after that superb performance."
William Pike (Wild Planet): "He was OK. Had a wall of horses in front of me and didn't have a lot of room."
James Orman (Rothfire): "Just a bob of the head really. I got the right run, just couldn't get there today. He's improved a lot back on top of the ground today and will run a really good race in the Stradbroke."
Brodie Loy (Olmedo): "Travelled strongly but once they put the foot down he couldn't keep up."
Ben Thompson (Signore Fox): "He travelled sweet in the run he just didn't show his usual acceleration today."
Craig Williams (September Run): "I was really pleased with her performance, first time going back right-handed for a long time and I thought it was really creditable up to 1300. I know after today's performance they've got more options with distance-range so really happy with the way she went again."
Opie Bosson (Entriviere): "She did really well in the race and was probably just a little bit disappointing. Might be in need of a break now."
James McDonald (Paulele): "He tried his heart out. Ran super. We jumped beautifully and got into a lovely spot. Credit to the winner, he's a great horse, he out-toughed us today, but I'm so proud of him because he was in for the fight and he fought all the way up to the line. Just to miss by a bob is a bit disappointing, but credit to the winner, he did a good job."
Ryan Maloney (Isotope): "She's just not racing in the form she was back at Magic Millions. Her mannerisms are very wrong, she wanted to play up quite badly and se's just not racing like the mare I know she can be. I don't know where they push to now but it's probably back to the drawing board."
John Allen (Away Game): "She ran well, just didn't have much luck from the gate."
Jamie Kah (Brooklyn Hustle): "Just the typical unlucky story for her, she's in terrific form and terrific order she just couldn't get that room she needed late."
Boris Thornton (Scallopini): "Rapt with this bloke's effort first time in this company. He held himself well and I think he'll appreciate a bit further in this grade."
