Darren Taylor experienced his first feature race as a trainer last Saturday and although She’s God To You ran a credible race he’s elected against running the filly in next weeks Belmont Guineas (1600m).
The daughter of Playing God finished third behind Graceful Girl in the Listed Raconteur Stakes, but Darren Taylor believes a softer assignment in Saturday's Dream Horse In Cinemas Handicap (1400m) is a better option for the three-year-old.
"She is jumping out of her skin and I think backing up on the weekend gives us a better chance of winning than going into the Belmont Guineas (1600m)," Taylor told The Races WA.
"I think this is a more winnable race when you consider the quality of horses that will go into the Belmont Guineas.
"You would imagine Bob Peters and Adam Durrant will have runners in the race.
"And although I'm confident she can run out a strong mile, 1400m is also her forte.
"While she is going well I thought we may as well back up rather than wait a fortnight before the Guineas.
"This race looks a better option and she has jagged a good barrier."
She's God To You is the $3.90 second favourite in current TAB markets. Son Son for Adam Durrant the market leader at $3.30.
She's God To You has drawn barrier five for Natasha Faithfull.
Meanwhile Taylor also fancies Puli producing another front running performance in the Glenroy Chaff Handicap (1200m), despite lumping the 62kg top weight.
Three weeks since leading from start to finish over 1200, the soft track specialist will be ridden by Mitchell Pateman.
"I thought about going with a claim, but in the end, I thought experience with Mitch would prevail," Taylor said.
"I don't think the weight will worry him and the three weeks between runs will suit.
"He won with 61.5kg on a soft track previously.
"I'm just hoping the rain continues, the more the better for him."
Lady Duckworth could round out what shapes as potentially a big day for Taylor.
The improving staying mare is in top form and with Chris Parnham to ride, Lady Duckworth will chase her fourth straight win in the Amelia Park Handicap (2200m).
"She has been a surprise packet," Taylor said.
"I can't fault her and actually think she is my best for the meeting."
