Race 3: She's Extreme
One to keep an eye on from Saturday's Randwick meeting is the Anthony Cummings-trained She's Extreme.
Having found the line well on debut at the 'midweeks' after what was for a majority a luckless run, the daughter of Extreme Choice was sent out a $14 chance in the Two-Year-Old Fillies Group 2 Sweet Embrace over the 1200m.
Jumping away one of the best from the widest draw, jockey Josh Parr quickly restrained his mount to find cover.
Struggling to obtain cover in the early stages, the pair eventually settled worse than midfield in a two wide position.
Forced to edge wider to attain a clear passage when approaching the home turn, the two-year-old wound up forcefully down the outside - in what was trying conditions to say the least.
Handling the soaking surface rather impressively, the filly charged home with clearly the quickest final 200m sectional (12.60 seconds) in the race to finish just under a length (0.75L) away from the winner, with a handy 3L margin back to the race favourite in third.
In contrast to her debut effort, She's Extreme was able to find clear running early in the straight and in turn was allowed to shift through her gears and put in a good chase to the line.
Whether she prefers a wet track or just handled the conditions better than her rivals it's unclear as of yet for the two-year-old – more often than not it's a combination of both, but what is certain is that She's Extreme displayed promising signs in a run that screams "Back Me!" next start.
Third-up next time, this filly will no doubt be more improved once again and is one that is definitely worth following in proceeding runs.
