The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace trained stayer made it three wins in four starts, winning in dominant fashion.
Maserartie Bay took out the opening race at Flemington in style after struggling in heavy conditions in the Listed Warrnambool Cup (2350m) prior. Jockey Jamie Kah tracked the leader and top weight Warning throughout the run and took over on the turn to win by 1-3/4 lengths eased down.
Stable representative Jack Turnbull was just mindful that the horse needed to recover from a tough run at Warrnambool.
"It was far too soft at Warrnambool, and it took him a while to get over that run. Thankfully the connections have been patient and this race looked ideal for him," Turnbull said.
The Banjo Paterson series final is on the 2nd of July, however Turnbull suggested Maseratie Bay could be targeted at the Flemington Cup (2800m) on July 16th.
"He can have a nice breather from now and until them. Hopefully he can go into that race in as good as form as he was today," Turnbull said.
Jamie Kah maintained her excellent association with the Maher & Eustace stable, riding her 16th winner for the camp this season and puts their success down to preparation.
"I say it time and time again, I love riding Ciaron's stayers, especially at Flemington. It's such a big open track. He gets them so fit and my job was pretty easy in the end," Kah said.
