Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith (stable rep Shane Jackson speaking)
Tricky horse: "It's just a relief I suppose, we've always thought he's a good horse. We've probably been spruiking him a little bit and coming home disappointed. He's yet to run a bad race in fairness and we've probably taken the bubble wrap off him a little bit."
Training him: "When you're a small stable, these big powerhouse stables probably have ten or fifteen like him and just work him as normal. Since last start we've sort of gone back to basics and worked him the same, kept the work up to him, his fitness is better today and he got the job done in a competitive race so we're back on track."
Winter Final: "I reckon he is (a big chance), it's the obvious option, obviously we'll talk to the boss, he makes the decisions, we'll get him home, get to the beach for a couple of days and hopefully we're back in a couple weeks time."
On Mystery Shot: "He's run a good race, he just probably got a couple of pairs further back than we were expecting, and he's run on and hit the line well. He goes on wet ground so if it happens to rain that'll be right up his alley too."
Winning Jockey: Jarrod Fry
Things aligning: He's a class animal. He's probably been giving Lindsey a few grey hairs the way he's been pulling up but they're really sort of working with him and today he was a lot better than he had been and he gave me a good feeling in a trial leading into this so all things lined up today."
During the run: "He just sort of when he tires he wants to lay in under pressure but the best horse won easily. With the tempo it probably suited him because he's got such a high cruising speed naturally himself, but he was in a beautiful rhythm and we were following the right horse."
