In a competitive and wide-open betting market the third emergency in the Chandon Civic Stakes – Battleton for Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker and jockey Kerrin McEvoy – has opened a $4.40-4.20 TAB favourite.
Seven other runners from $6-$8.50 are next priced in the opening TAB market, headed by the well backed Taksu for Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride and with Glyn Schofield aboard ($8-$6).
Joe Pride also has next in betting Mariama ($6-$6.50) for jockey Sam Clipperton, who is looking to win his third Chandon Civic Stakes in the past eight years.
Sydney's 11-time champion premiership trainer Chris Waller has Blondeau ($11-8) and Rosehill Gardens stablemate Oscar Zulu ($8-$8.50) while Royal Randwick trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott saddle up Dawn Passage ($8-$8.50).
Another Warwick Farm trainer in Jarrod Austin has Looks Like Elvis ($8-$8.50) to be ridden by Keagan Latham.
Saturday also sees the running of the $130,000 Furphy Stayers Cup over the 2600m trip – with Alakahan for Rosehill Gardens trainers Richard and Will Freedman and jockey Tim Clark an opening $4-$3.90 TAB favourite.

The Sydney Winter Racing Super Pass allows General Admission entry to all Saturday meetings to 10 September, including Group 1 Winx Stakes Day at Royal Randwick, Chelmsford Stakes Day at Royal Randwick, and Run To The Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens.
Discounts are also available for General Admission tickets to the Sydney Everest Carnival in spring.
