When David Pfieffer recently returned from suspension, there were several familiar faces waiting for him at his stable complex.

His team of horses had been sent to other trainers during his enforced layoff, but many of them quickly found their way back to him.

"I have been lucky to be greeted back with a lot of my old stagers – Broken Arrows, Laure Me In, Rocketing By, Monte Ditto," Pfieffer said.

"A few of the old boys walked back in the barn and they're happy to be back in the place and I'm happy to have them back."

Three of that quartet are set to compete at Randwick on Saturday, headlined by Laure Me In who resumes in the Listed Civic Stakes (1400m).

The seven-year-old's best form is over longer journeys, but he has been competitive first-up in the past and has a low draw in barrier six.

Long-term, Pfieffer says their goal is to qualify the gelding for The Big Dance at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day.

"We're going to possibly look at the Coffs Harbour Cup and see if we can line him up in The Big Dance at the end of the year," he said.

Broken Arrows will have to overcome a wide draw for his assignment in the Petaluma Handicap (1100m), while Monte Ditto tackles the Midway Handicap (1100m) and has been gradually improving with each run.

The trio will be bidding to continue Pfieffer's good recent form with the trainer having produced four winners from his past eight runners.
