Bill The Boxer has won five of his six starts after leading throughout at Sandown.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained Bill The Boxer has extended his unbeaten stretch to three this campaign with a decisive win at Sandown. 

The four-year-old son of Foxwedge jumped straight to the front in the Ladbrokes Mates Mode Handicap (1200m) on Wednesday and gave his rivals no chance of running him down. 

Sent out a $4 equal favourite under Alana Kelly, Bill The Boxer defeated So Risque ($4.40) by 2-½ lengths with the other co-favourite Princess Annalise a further two lengths away third. 

Bill The Boxer has now raced six times, for five wins, with his only defeat being over 1300m at Sandown back in January. 

"I wish we had not run him that day as he'd be unbeaten now," Calvin McEvoy said. 

Immediately spelled, Bill The Boxer returned to score a five-length win on the synthetic circuit at Ballarat before a narrow win at Swan Hill during their three-day Carnival earlier in June. 

McEvoy said he was impressed with what he saw from Bill The Boxer on Wednesday. 

"I thought he had to overcome a few more hurdles," McEvoy said. 

"Even though we were down in grade, we were effectively up in grade with the race we found. 

"He just continues to raise the bar and I would like to have a few more of him in the stable." 

McEvoy said he was unsure where Bill The Boxer, who was a $22,000 yearling purchase at the Magic Millions Sale in Adelaide, could eventually end up. 

"He's grown into a beautiful big horse and I'm not sure where his ceiling is," McEvoy said. 

"We've just been going race by race at this stage. I was only this morning looking through the calendar and thinking about going up to 1400 metres after today, but I think we might be staying at the 1200. 

"He looks a pretty effective horse."
